The DIY Guide to Wearing Your Pride
The DIY Guide to Wearing Your Pride shows off the beautiful spectrum of the Pride movement, in a year when celebrating in person is dangerous.
The zine features photography (by award-winning photographer Mark Leibowitz) of members of the LGBTQ+ community wearing a range of Pride flags as stylish accessories, along with step-by-step instructions to recreate each look.
I was asked to write headlines, editorial copy, directions for each of the looks, and website content for the project by my friend and former Creative Director, Gianmaria Schönlieb. Everyone involved donated their time and talent so that we could donate the proceeds to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute, which supports the fight for equality for Black Trans people. It was an honor to be involved, and a privilege to be able to work on such an important cause — and the project was incredible well received by the LGBTQ+ community, gaining momentum on Instagram right at the peak of when we’d normally be celebrating Pride parades all over the world.
